REGISTRATIONS ARE ON SATURDAY 20TH SEPTEMBER 2026
FROM 2-3 PM AT THE LEISURE CENTRE
Part 1: Qualification Swim
Before registration, all Nippers in the Under 8 age group and above must complete a preliminary swim test.​ This test is simply to check that your child is safe and confident in the water — it doesn’t need to be perfect.
Important: Children in Under 6 and Under 7 do not do a formal swim test. They just need to be able to:

Float on their back for a short time

Submerge their head under the water
-
Glide a short distance in waist-deep water
Swim Test by Age Group (Under 8 and above)
Your child should be able to:
Under 8

Back float for at least 15 seconds
-
Submerge and touch the bottom with both hands
-
Swim 20 metres (any stroke)

Under 11

Float front-to-back or back-to-front for 5 seconds each side
-
Tread water or scull for 3 minutes
-
Submerge to perform a forward/backward roll underwater, recover to surface, submerge to touch the bottom

Swim 50 metres (any stroke)
Under 9
-
Float front-to-back or back-to-front for 5 seconds each side

Tread water or scull for 1 minute

Submerge and touch the bottom with both hands

Swim 25 metres (any stroke)
Under 12
Same as Under 11, but swim 75 metres (any stroke)

Part 2: Registration
Fees & Payment

Nippers: $120 each - Includes SLSNSW registration, insurance, Nippers cap, medal, and resources.

Rash Shirt: $10 each - Required for all Nippers (usually lasts 2 seasons).

Adult Volunteers / Cadets: $26.30 each - Covers SLSNSW registration and insurance.
NB: Active Kids Vouchers are accepted.

Forms & What to Bring
You’ll need to bring the following on registration day:

Member Protection Declaration Form (adult volunteers only)

ID / proof of age for your child (Birth Certificate or Passport)

Active Kids Voucher (if using)

Completed payment (or proof of direct deposit)
NB: Volunteers include age managers, board members, water safety crew, or first aiders. Find out more here.

Vacancies for each age group will be announced on our Facebook page on Monday evening. Under 6 and Under 7 are usually the most popular groups.

Registration for new members will be held on Wednesday 25th September at the pool, subject to availability.
